Snowmobiling
Chippewa County offers snowmobile enthusiasts an amazing 500 miles of snowmobile trails to ride on. This trail system travels through Chippewa County and connects with many other county trails with the opportunity to travel by snowmobile virtually statewide.

Cross Country Ski Trails
A great family/friends bonding experience that is a great workout and low impact – sounds perfect right? With trails of different difficulty levels, anyone can strap on a pair of skis and learn. Check out a collection of favorite county trails here.
Ice Fishing
Once the ice has frozen, we drive our vehicles on our lakes! It’s true, and you can join us out on the ice for a truly unique fishing experience. With over 449 lakes throughout the county, everyone can find their own “secret” spot. Click here to see them all. In the meantime, here are some local favorites:

Ice Skating
Kids of all ages enjoy ice skating and if it’s something new to you, the Northwoods is a great place to learn. From family time to friend time, ice skating is a great way to create memories you won’t soon forget. Here are some great outdoor rinks:

Iceboating
Yes, you read that correctly. Sailing on the open waters is a favorite pastime in our area, but when the temperatures drop, we add some skids to our watercraft and zoom across the ice. Lake Wissota is a favorite in our area. See the lakes.
Fat Biking
Imagine the most aggressive mountain bike you’ve ever seen and you’ll be picturing pretty close to a fat bike set up. They usually sport tires that are from 3-5 inches wide and can tackle almost any terrain including sand, rocky trails, and in this season snow. You’ll get a rush tackling the 15 miles trail system at Hickory Ridge as well as any of the spots listed below.
