Staycation right in your own community
We’ve all heard the ads about getting away for your next vacation. The ads tout about flying to beautiful destination or cruising to a tropical paradise. We’re lucky here in northwestern Wisconsin with four wonderful seasons to have one of the best times of the year being upon us. Fall.
We don’t need to get on a plane or to pack our fancy clothes for a cruise. We get to enjoy the beauty found right in our backyards or just a short drive from home staying overnight in a hotel for that bit of true vacation feel.
You’ll get to witness the changing of the leaves from green to yellow, to orange or to red from the leaves clinging to their branches or watching them fall to the ground. We get to hear the laughter of the kids in the neighborhood as they gather the leaves and run and jump into a pile of sugar maple, elm, oak or birch leaves all painted amazing colors for us by nature.
Fall is a great time to reacquaint yourself with your community. That local park you’ve been wanting to hike such as the new trail at Irvine Park & Zoo; biking through Hickory Ridge bike trail with the trees in all their glory or to drive along the Chippewa River between Jim Falls and Cornell to see the amazing reflection of the trees on the water.
We are all in love with fall and it’s just the perfect time to enjoy lunch along the river or lake, to go pick apples at a nearby orchard and to taste the newest releases at a local winery or brewery. Why not throw in a bit of culture by enjoying a performance at the Heyde Center, touring the newChippewa Falls Area History Center or shopping for some locally produced art at the Valley Art Gallery that could get you started on your holiday shopping.
You don’t have to travel far to create a new favorite memory. There is so much to do in our community and fall is the most stupendous time to do it. Plan your staycation today; come visit us in Chippewa County.
