Arriving in Chippewa County

By Air: The Chippewa Valley Regional Airport (EAU airport code) offers direct flights arriving from and departing to Chicago O’Hare Airport daily, helping to reduce parking costs, overnight stays and mileage expenses. Ground transportation services are available on-site. Make sure you check out the Hangar 54 Grill for a delicious pre/post-travel meal.
Shuttle from MSP Airport: The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is about a 1.5-hour drive away from Chippewa County and offers hourly shuttles. Services like Green Fleet or Groome Transportation offer sustainable transportation options to and from this airport to get you to your desired destination.
By Car: Chippewa County is located in the west-central part of Wisconsin right off I-94. Your excursion from other large Midwestern cities like Milwaukee and Madison, WI, Chicago, IL, and Minneapolis, Duluth, and Rochester, MN, and others will put you in the right mindset for your trip as you enjoy the small-town charm.

Construction Projects
Construction Projects are at the Heart of Summer in Wisconsin, please use your maps app when traveling to get where you need to go. Below we have a list of the projects that affect Chippewa Falls and other area communities. Please see the Wisconsin DOT website for the full list.
- Traffic switch, ramp closures coming on US 53 in Chippewa County
Northbound US 53 traffic – currently operating on the southbound US 53 lanes between 40th Avenue in Lake Hallie and County N in Chippewa Falls – will be switched back to northbound US 53. In addition, the ramp from southbound US 53 to Business 29/County X and the ramp from Business 29/County X to southbound US 53 are expected to close to traffic at 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27. The ramps tentatively will remain closed until noon July 3.
- Resurfacing Project on WIS 124 from Duncan Creek to Bridge Street
During construction, WIS 124 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane and side road closures. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, June 2.
