County Hwy M ATV Trailhead
County Hwy M ATV Trailhead is one of Chippewa County’s top access points for off-road adventure, located within the Chippewa County Forest and serving as a gateway to more than 23 miles of ATV/UTV trails. Shaped by ancient glacial activity, this area features rolling hills, valleys, and rugged terrain, making it a standout for those looking for high-energy things to do in Chippewa County.
- Experience:
Ride through a diverse landscape of forested trails, steep climbs, and winding paths that pass small lakes, beaver ponds, and scenic overlooks. The trail system offers both challenging terrain and extended riding opportunities, with an additional 20 miles of nearby routes—primarily gravel roads—expanding your adventure. - Access:
The County Hwy M trailhead provides direct entry to the Chippewa County ATV trail system, with space for parking and unloading. Trails are two-way and require riders to stay alert for oncoming traffic, especially on hills and curves. The trail is typically open from May 1 through the Monday prior to Wisconsin’s traditional deer gun season, weather and conditions permitting. - Good to know:
Riders are expected to follow responsible recreation practices, including packing out all trash and recyclables. Following Leave No Trace principles helps protect the forest and trail system for future riders. Always check current trail conditions or closures before heading out.
