Bass Lakes ATV Trailhead welcomes riders to over 23 miles of ATV trails that wind through the Chippewa County Forest. Many thousands of years ago, the glaciers rolling over this land created today’s hills, valleys, and challenging terrain of the trail. This glacial topography is what makes this area ideal for ATV/UTV riding. Trails challenge riders as there are steep hills and valleys. Riders also pass small lakes and beaver ponds, as well as spectacular vistas. Additionally, riders enjoy approximately 20 miles of routes (mostly gravel) in the immediate vicinity of the trail.
The Chippewa County ATV Trail is normally open to ATV/UTV riding from May 1st until the Monday prior to Wisconsin’s traditional deer gun season each year, except in a case of an emergency when the County may close and gate the trail. Be cautious, as you never know what’s around the next corner, or over the next hill, on this two-way trail! Your adventure starts at the County Hwy M ATV Trailhead.
