Camp Nawakwa is a historic youth camp that is available for rent to youth groups and organizations. Our Nawakwa, Inc. (a completely volunteer run 501c3 non-profit in Chippewa County) purchased the camp from the Girl Scouts in January of 2024.
Camp Nawakwa is currently a 75-acre camp that includes a 26-acre lake settled amongst hilly glacial topography. The 32 acres on the north side of Picnic Lake are improved with 3 winterized lodges, a seasonal dining hall, 12 seasonal and rustic sleeping units, a historical lodge from the original Boy Scout camp, a waterfront, an archery range, and plenty of space for a variety of outdoor activities.
Twenty-one acres on the south and east side of Picnic Lake have a conservation easement granted to the Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) which permanently prevents development of the land. The Ice Age Trail, a 1200-mile national hiking trail, runs along this easement.
