Chippewa County’s lakes + waterways have adventures awaiting you year-round. Cast a line, dip your paddle, or go with the flow in one of Chippewa County’s 449 lakes. We have small one-acre, off-the-path lakes that can offer solitude and serenity. We also have large lakes like Lake Wissota with 6,300 acres of space to play. After a day of fun, visit one of the lake-side restaurants!
If you are interested in fishing any time of the year, our lakes and waterways provide plenty of spots to reel one in. The Chippewa River and its flowage offer some of the best and most diverse angling opportunities in the county. Chippewa County also provides 81 miles of trout-fishing opportunities in 24 classified trout streams. Seventy-seven miles of these streams are Class 1 trout water.
Whether it is -40 degrees and you are casting a line in hopes of a huge fish, or it is 100 degrees and you are floating down the Chippewa River to cool down, there is a ton of fun waiting for you in our lakes + waterways!
