CJ Rislove is a bus-living, cookie-eating, jazz-enthused, piano-playing machine who turns nothing into music, and music into love. The 23-year-old singer/songwriter blends the tasty soul and gospel sounds of the past, with the delectably sultry jazz ballad sound of an even earlier past. CJ Rislove, a Wisconsin native, is making waves on the national stage with his musical talents. As a soul-pop artist inspired by jazz legends like Billy Joel, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder, Rislove advanced to the second round of American Idol Season 22. His unconventional lifestyle—living, composing, and singing in his retrofitted school bus known as “The Jazz Wagon”—informs his artistry. With a new song written every other day, Rislove’s passion shines through, and he credits the supportive community of Chippewa Falls for his success.
